To animate in Google Slides, select the object (text, shape or image) and right click on it. From the menu, click Animate. In the "Motion" settings panel that opens on the right, select "Animation Type" and "Initial Condition" from the drop-down options under "Object Animations".

In this article, you'll learn how to animate objects, text, and bullets, add delays, edit animations, and even remove animations, and everything you need to know about animations in your Google Slides presentations!

I'll cover the basics so you can keep going, even if you're a beginner. If you are an advanced user looking for specific animation instructions, I advise you to skip the beginner information at the beginning and scroll down to find the relevant information.

Let me start with the basics of animations in Google Slides first. So without further ado, let's get down to business!

1. What does animation mean in Google Slides?

The word "animation" refers to the technique used to move inanimate objects to bring images or graphics to life.

Animation in Google Slides allows objects in slides to move or fade in or out. This Google Slides feature allows you to add various effects to your slides. Animations can be used to draw your audience's attention to a specific part of the slide or even make your presentation more engaging.

Google Slides is packed with features that you can use to enhance your presentation without having to do much. Also, you can adjust the speed of each effect by dragging the animation speed slider. This way you can give your slides a professional touch.

In Google Slides, you can apply animations to text boxes, shapes, images, bullets, charts, and icons.

Keep the following in mind when using animations in Google Slides,Don't get carried away by too many animations and transitions.Be careful not to overload your message with too many effects.

One last thing before moving on to the next section is to remember not to confuse animations with transitions in Google Slides. We'll go into the differences between animations and transitions in a bit more detail in the next section.

2. Difference between animation and transition in Google Slides

It's easy to get confused between "animations" and "transitions" in Google Slides, as both add motion and motion effects to your presentation. However, they are not the same.

The main difference between animation and transition in Google Slides is that animation is applied to objects present on a slide while transition is applied to the slide itself. The animation effect is visible on the slide, while the transition effect is visible when you move from one slide to the next.

So it's important to remember that these two cannot be used interchangeably. However, these motion effects can be used together.

There are two types of animations in Google Slides: a.) those that make your elements appear (usually contain the word "in") and b.) those that make your elements disappear from the slide! (usually includes the "outside world" inside)

Types of animations in Google Slides

There are a total of 13 animation types available in Google Slides. These are the following:

Now that we understand the basics, let's learn how to add animations to your Google Slides presentation. Remember that you can add animations to various objects including text, images, objects, shapes, symbols, charts, tables, etc.

Regardless of which element you choose to include, the process of adding animation to each of these elements is very similar.

However, for this article, I will consider adding animation to text and adding animation to images and text as an example. Also, I'll show you different ways to add animations to objects in Google Slides.

3.1 How to animate text in Google Slides?

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to add animation to text in Google Slides:

Step 1: Open Google Slides

Here's how to easily open a Google Slides presentationClick hereor visit slides.google.com. Make sure you're signed in to your Google account to open a new presentation.

Step 2 - Select the text and click on the "Insert" menu.

After opening a new presentation, enter the desired text in the selected slide. Highlight the text and click"Insertion", which you can find in the top left corner of the screen. Select the "AnimationOption" in the drop-down menu.

Step 3 - Select the animation type and start condition in the motion panel

After clickingAnimationA new window will open on the right side of the screen. This will help you adjust your motion settings.

Pro Tip!
With Google Slides you can3 initial conditions for animationsi.e. a.) on click, b.) with previous and c.) after previous. These settings help determine when the animation should play, and depending on the setting you choose, it can play on button press, with a previous animation, or after the animation finishes.

Under the "object animation', select the section“Type of animation“. In the example above, I used the Fade In animation.

Then select "initial condition“. You can choose to start the animation on click, with prev (animation), or after prev (animation).

3.2 How to change animation duration in Google Slides?

You can also use Google Slides to slow down or make animations appear fast! This can be done with the "Duration" setting for the animation.

Here's how you can change the duration of animations in Google Slides:

Step 1 - Select the object to change the animation duration

The first step is to select text or another object that already has animation added. You can select it by clicking on it.

Step 2 - Open the "Motion Settings" tab by clicking on "View".

If an animation has already been added to an object, click "Vista" Guide. No suspense menu, click "Movement“.

This will open the Motion settings window on the right side of the screen.

Pro Tip!
To make changes to an existing animation, always open the "Movement"Tab first from"VistaMenu. When using the "Add animation"option from"insert menu' (or by some other method) adds an additional animation to the same object.

It's important to note that if you select an object that already has animation added, click Insert and add the animation as described in the previous section, you will end up adding another animation to the same object instead of adding the existing animation edit .

Step 3: Change animation duration

The last thing you want to do is change the duration of the animation by dragging the "Duration" slider left or right.

Dragging the slider to the left slows down the animation, while dragging to the right speeds up the animation.

3.3 How to rearrange animations in Google Slides?

Sometimes you can add animations out of order. In this scenario, you might want to change the order in which the animations appear. This can also be easily done in Google Slides.

How to change the order of animations in Google Slides:

Step 1 - Open the Motion Settings window from the View menu.

If you don't have the Motion window open, go to the View menu and click Motion to see the existing animations that are present on the slide.

Step 2 - Change the order of the motion window animations

Select the animation whose order you want to change. Then in the "Motion" pane, hover over the "6 dots" on the far right of the animation until the cursor turns into a crosshair. Then click on the animation and drag it up or down depending on your requirement.

Step 3 Click Play to check the changes

Finally, click the Play button in the Motion Settings window to verify that the animation order is as required.

3.4 How to Remove Animations in Google Slides

Sometimes you accidentally added animation to an object or text. In this case, you may want to remove the added animation. In case you're wondering, here's how to remove animations in Google Slides:

Step 1 - Go to the slide that contains the animation that you want to remove

First you need to go to the slide that contains the animation that you want to remove or delete.

Step 2 - Open the Motion panel and select the animation that you want to remove

On the animation layer, select the animation that you want to remove or delete.

Step 3 - Select the animation and press the "Delete" button.

Click on it to add animation to the image. This is another way to add animation to an object.

Step 3 - Select animation type

Choose one depending on the type of transition you want. For this example I have the "fly from belowAnimationsoption.

Step 4 - Select start condition for animation and duration

A time can be chosen depending on when the object or image is to be displayed. tighten"On Click"to make the image or object appear individually. Other options are "up"EU"with previous ones“.

You can also choose how fast or slow the animation program should be with the "Length of time" Option. Drag the slider to the right or left.

Step 5: Preview the animation to see the result

To view the animation of the image or object, click the yellow button"Spielen"Tab at the bottom of the section.

To finish previewing the image or animated object, click the button"arrest prison"Taste.

6. How to add motion animations in Google Slides?

Motion path animations allow an object to move along a specified path. This can be right to left, up or down, or even diagonally.

Unfortunately, Google Slides doesn't have the ability to add a motion animation directly to slides. However, the motion path animation can be recreated by duplicating the slides and slightly changing the position of the object on each slide.

Unlike PowerPoint or Keynote, Google Slides doesn't have the ability to "track animations“. But the desired result can also be achieved with the so-called stop-motion animation.

7. How to Repeat Animations in Google Slides?

Looping animations in Google Slides are not yet possible. However, you can use a trick in Google Slides to create an endless animation for an object, image or text field. Let's understand this in more detail.

Step 1 - Create an object on your slide

The created object can be of type"Form"a tab, image, or text box. It may contain statistical numbers or images related to the topic of the presentation.

Step 2 – Right click and select Animate tab

Right-click and select the"Animate"Instructions for adding animations to already existing objects.

Step 3 - Select the object you want to add loop animation to

After the animation sidebar appears, make sure the desired object is selected by clicking on it.

Step 4 - Add animation and timing to your object

Assuming you want oneSpinning-Loop-Animation.In the transition option, choose the"turn"Tab available at the bottom of the Transition Types list.

To choose the time the object appears, select"On Click"Guides available at the top of the list. This will start the animation when the object is clicked.

Step 5: Create a second animation

click now"Add Animation"to create a second animation for the object. choose"turn"are available again at the end of the list for consistency.

Click for object generation time"After the Above"Available as the second option in the list. This ensures that the object appears after the first animation process.

Level 6: repeat to level 5

Depending on how long you want the loop animation to last, repeat step 5^IsPast. After a certain number of iterations, the list of animations should appear.

It's important to ensure that all animations maintain the same speed for the object.. give click"Bad"to moderately rotate the object.

Step 7: Click Play

8. Can you create animations in Google Slides with the mobile app?

Google Slides has a very robust mobile app for both Android and iOS devices. It has tons of built-in features to help you create a presentation on the go!

Unfortunately, you can't add animation with the mobile app in Google Slides. While the option to add an animation doesn't exist in the Google Slides mobile app, you can still view a presentation that already has animations in it.

You can also present a Google Slides presentation that includes animations using just your phone.

9. Do PowerPoint animations work in Google Slides?

If you've created a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint that includes animations and you need to share it using Google Slides, you might be wondering if PowerPoint animations will work in Google Slides.

In general, Google Slides doesn't support most PowerPoint animations. However, if you use animations in your PowerPoint presentation that are also present in Google Slides (e.g. pop, fly, etc.), then it will work in Google Slides.

If you try to load a PowerPoint presentation that contains animations that aren't supported by Google Slides, you'll see a warning at the top of the Google Slides window (as shown in the image above).

The error message is "Some PowerPoint features cannot be displayed in Google Slides and will be lost if you make changes".
